Day 2- Monday 11th May 2009

Today, we went on a field trip, first to the Q.E.A.F, then after that we went to the Turkish Embassy.

Here's what we did today:
After about 30 minutes of sitting on the bus, we arrived to Q.E.A.F which stands for Qatar Emiri Air Force. The people their were very welcoming, they started us off with a Powerpoint Presentation, explaining the history of Q.E.A.F, then the history, after that their duties, and the levels. The most important things explained from the PP presentation, were that the Air Force started in January 1970, and their duties were in war and peace time, in war time they attacked the enemies, and in peace time they protected Qatar, they also made a radar line and it's about 100km, if an unknown plane comes they will send a plane to investigate it, because it has no permission to come in that line ( International rule), the levels in Q.E.A.F are about 12 levels, it depends on your ability, to get to the highest level, the lowest begginer level is a cadet and the highest is the General... ( Which was Mr. Salem Al Nabet ). After that, we had a refreshment break, later when we finished they took us to 2 planes, and they split us to 2 groups and nearly everyone got the chance to ride a plane. When I got in the plane they told me how to control the plane, the middle contoller is to move around, right is to move right, left is to move left, if you move it forward you move up (go higher, which is colder), and towards you is down (which is warmer). And they took pictures of us! After that, we went to a plane simulator to actually move the controllers. Later, we went to wing no. 2, because we were in wing no. 1. They then explained about the helicopters, there are Gazelle helicopters, Squadron Mk.2, and Squadron Mk.3, the Gazelle is small (like a Gazelle, small), the Squadron Mk.2 is smaller than the Mk.3, and the only difference between them, is that the Squadrone Mk.3 has a radar on the top of it, but the Mk.2 doesn't. Then, we went to actually see them and instead of taking a lot of pictures, they took a group photo. And we went to a helicopter simulator, to practice our flying. We after that, we went to wing no. 1 again for a group photo!

After all that, we went to the Turkish Embassy, as we entered the turkish people warmly welcomed us, they were so friendly and kind, the food was ready on the tables. We waited for the Turkish Embassador, when he arrived he told us about turkey, and we asked questions, then a lady gave us booklets, about places to explore in Turkey. Later, we started to eat, and when we were done the lady that gave us the booklets, played a game with us, the game was that she would randomly pick someone and they had to sing in there language, it was FUN!
Overall, this this trip was GREAT!

Behaviour:
Most of the time, my group's behavior was fine.
